It's time to meet Nintendo's new leading lady, a bright yellow vehicle you can call a bus, a bit of a thing. It's been a few months since we first got a peek at the Nintendo characters just off the production line at Japan's new R&D center, and we're finally seeing some of their new features. Mostly they're just variations of stuff already seen or announced, but a few new details here or there can help us understand the characters a little better. Here's Nintendo's first new feature: a built-in camera. That allows screenshots and video of the games we're about to play. For instance, did you know you can play Mario Kart, Portal, Animal Crossing, Mario Party and other Nintendo games on Wii? There you go. Some of the games also feature wireless controllers, and one of them has a built-in headphone jack. Nintendo also has introduced a compass, which is used to look for the bus or train you're taking. And if you're thinking the bus has a Starbucks cup holder, you're right. All of the characters are about to enjoy the beverage du jour in a bit of friendly competition. There's more. It's time to go on a hunt. The characters' movement also has changed. Rather than exactly hover like they do in the games, they now run on a combination of gyroscope, accelerometer and GPS. They can then use the Wii Remote in a new way. Since the Wii Camera Remote is an optical system, it's perfect for scanning where characters are and drawing a target on them. A new feature on the GamePad means looking for characters while shopping. You can scan items in stores, and if you're really lucky, you'll be able to place them in your inventory on the bus or train. All the characters are now able to sign autographs. And a new system will let you know when it's time to move on to the next destination. There's one last thing to note here: the characters seem to talk to each other. Because of Nintendo's new language barrier, they're more likely to need translation.
